Shared genetic polymorphisms between populations and species can be ascribed to ancestral variation or to more recent gene flow. Here, we mapped shared polymorphisms in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and its sister species Saccharomyces paradoxus, which diverged 4–6 million years ago.
