Researchers unearthed remnants of what is believed to be the Earth's most ancient fossil forest on the northern coastline of Devon and Somerset, UK. The trees (approximately 390 million years old), could have been part of a vast forest that once covered the eastern coast of what was then known as the Old Red Sandstone continent—a portion of Europe during that era.
