Senator Mia McLeod made history today in South Carolina. She is the first black woman to run for governor in the state. McLeod made the announcement at the home of late civil rights activist Modjeska Simkins, a place special to her and her father. "The two of them would sit in the living room and on the porch. For hours sometimes. They would talk about the struggles and the challenges of people of color," said McLeod. Sen. McLeod has been a state lawmaker for a decade.
