Each November, typically the week before Thanksgiving, Colonial Williamsburg staff cook bricks in the brickyard at the intersection of Nicholson and Queen streets. The bricks are cooked in a kiln at the brickyard over approximately five days the week before Thanksgiving, with temperatures reaching up to about 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit in the kiln.
