Colonial Williamsburg brickyard fires up kiln for several days of old-fashioned brick making

Each November, typically the week before Thanksgiving, Colonial Williamsburg staff cook bricks in the brickyard at the intersection of Nicholson and Queen streets. The bricks are cooked in a kiln at the brickyard over approximately five days the week before Thanksgiving, with temperatures reaching up to about 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit in the kiln.
