Breakingviews - 3M's $6 bln earplugs settlement is a little sticky

3M's latest legal settlement includes some curious wrinkles. The industrial conglomerate behind Post-it Notes and Scotchgard has followed its agreement in June to pay up to $12.5 billion over long-lasting chemicals known as PFAS with a $6 billion mediated deal over its allegedly defective earplugs. The structure, however, leaves reasons for concern.
