Back in October 2020, Gilead's antiviral Veklury (remdesivir) became the first drug endorsed by the FDA for the treatment of COVID-19. | With the FDA's expansion of its approval for Gilead's Veklury, it has become the first COVID drug approved to treat children younger than age 12. The drug is approved for use in kids age 28 days and older who are hospitalized with COVID or are at risk for progression to a severe form of the virus.
