AHA: Federal funds needed to offset 20% per-patient increase in hospital expenses since 2019

A 19% increase in per-patient labor costs, 37% rise in per-patient drug spend and other expense growth over the last two years is at the core of the American Hospital Association's (AHA's) latest p | Labor costs, drug spending, supply chain issues and economy-wide inflation have all placed greater pressure on hospital financials through the pandemic, AHA wrote in a new report calling for additional federal funding support.
