Illinois House Bill 246 is headed to Governor JB Pritzker's desk after the House passed it Thursday. The legislation's aim is to raise pay for health caregivers, incentivize higher staffing levels and make quality improvements at senior living facilities. Throughout the pandemic, nurses working in retirement homes have been quitting their jobs for several reasons including finding another job with better pay or less stress involved. Their departure can take a toll on a residents' health.
