Labor MP Meryl Swanson says says the "great shame" of Australian politics is people have "largely switched off". "Basically, no one trusts us," Ms Swanson told Sky News host Paul Murray. "They think we're all part of this corrupt crew that come to Canberra and participate in all manner of things, and basically, we really don't care about them - we only care about ourselves.
